Topaz Labs expands its image and video enhancement tools

Topaz Labs updates its web tools with Face Recovery 3 and Super Focus 3 for images, alongside the Hyperion 2 model for SDR to HDR video conversion.

Topaz Labs expands its AI enhancement applications for both image and video. On Topaz Image Web, the browser-accessible editor with cloud rendering, two new models are being introduced. Face Recovery 3 reconstructs faces with greater sharpness while preserving the subject's natural features, whether frontal or in profile, for a less smoothed result. Super Focus 3 targets partial blur: it recovers details in blurred areas without affecting already sharp parts, useful for a moving subject or a missed focus.

The tool also adds ready-to-use workflows: color correction, enlarging visuals produced for e-commerce, enhancing logos and graphics while preserving fine lines, and conversion between major file formats. The models remain usable alone or combined with each other.

For video, the Hyperion 2 model is introduced in the Astra web application. It converts SDR footage to HDR, transforms 8-bit videos, including AI-generated ones, into high bit-depth HDR, and extends the dynamic range to allow more latitude for grading, VFX, and compositing, with less banding and better-preserved textures. ProRes and EXR formats are expected, with an HDR-compatible display remaining necessary to take advantage of it.

These tools are offered by subscription, currently on promotion, and grouped within the Topaz Studio offering, which brings together desktop applications and web versions.
