Three Education Plugins Bring Structure to ChatGPT Work and Codex

Three plugins for ChatGPT Work and Codex help educators and students prepare lessons, study, and carry out projects.

Three specialized plugins are joining OpenAI’s education environments: one for K–12 educators, one for college educators, and one for college students. Each brings together apps, role-specific skills, instructions, and ready-to-use workflows.

The K–12 Educator plugin works with documents, teaching materials, and applications approved by the institution. It can create differentiated resources, assessments, end-of-lesson summaries, and family communications. An integration with Learning Commons allows certain materials to be aligned with local academic standards, while pedagogical decisions and grading remain under the teacher’s control.

For higher education, the College Educator plugin supports course design, educational websites, multimedia assessments, and the adaptation of materials for different learning needs. The resulting content can also be prepared for integration into a learning management system.

The College Student plugin turns selected sources into tutoring sessions, study plans, quizzes, flashcards, and interactive visual explanations. It is designed to guide learning rather than provide answers directly, using methods informed by learning science.

The plugins are available through ChatGPT Edu and institutional ChatGPT for Teachers deployments. Schools and universities retain control over connected apps, permissions, and the tools available to users.
