The Sandbox Studio, an AI game engine to go from idea to published multiplayer
The Sandbox Studio opens its closed alpha, featuring an AI game engine and code agent to build and publish multiplayer games in under two hours.
The Sandbox is opening applications for the closed alpha of its Studio, a game creation platform designed around AI. The environment brings together an engine, visual editor, integrated code agent, monetization tools, and a publishing pipeline, with a stated promise: to produce a playable multiplayer game in under two hours. The Studio interfaces with existing vibe coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex) and launches with six ready-to-use TypeScript templates, ranging from FPS to side scrollers and vehicle simulations.
The differentiating argument lies in the industry knowledge injected into the agent: the company claims the cumulative experience of over 400 studios and a thousand published games, encoded into the workflows and templates. Creators also gain access to a library of 300,000 voxel assets, with no obligation to stick to this aesthetic, as low poly or realism are also possible.
Regarding distribution, a single build can be played via a simple link on desktop and mobile, as well as within Telegram Mini Apps, with Steam, mobile stores, and YouTube Playables mentioned for the future. The SAND token will be integrated into the monetization. General availability is scheduled for Q4 2026.
