SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) acquires Anysphere, the publisher of the Cursor coding assistant, in an all-stock transaction valuing the startup at $60 billion. A newly created entity for the occasion, X67 Inc., is absorbed by Anysphere, which survives as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpaceX; Cursor shares will be converted into SpaceX Class A shares, based on the volume-weighted average price of the seven trading sessions preceding the closing. The closing is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and Anysphere shareholder approval.

The acquisition completes a purchase option concluded a few months earlier, which gave SpaceX the choice between acquiring Cursor for this amount or paying $10 billion for the collaboration alone. The transaction closely follows SpaceX's Nasdaq IPO and comes after its merger with xAI: Cursor thus joins the division that publishes Grok, backed by the power of the Colossus supercomputer. A jointly trained model is expected in Cursor and Grok Build. Launched in 2022 and having become one of the emblems of vibe coding, the tool reportedly claims some $2.6 billion in annualized revenue.
