Samsung Electronics equips its employees with ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex

Samsung Electronics adopts OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex for its Korean workforce and global DX division to accelerate development and office tasks.

Samsung Electronics is adopting ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex for its employees, in what OpenAI describes as one of its largest enterprise adoptions to date. The agreement covers all of the group's employees in Korea, as well as those in its Device eXperience (DX) division worldwide.

The intended use is broad, both technical and non-technical: software development, marketing, product design, or manufacturing. With ChatGPT, employees expedite knowledge tasks, information research and analysis, document drafting, ideation, or data interpretation, all within the framework of in-house security and governance, with ChatGPT Enterprise providing data protection and access management. Codex, originally for development, writing, reviewing, and debugging code, now also serves non-technical teams to transform an idea into software, an internal tool, a website, or an automated workflow.

OpenAI reports over five million weekly users for Codex, and an almost ninefold increase in usage in Korea since the beginning of the year. The relationship between the two groups is not new: Samsung already supplied memory semiconductors for OpenAI's AI infrastructure, and it now extends to the transformation of work. Elsewhere in Korea, Seoul National University is opening ChatGPT Edu to its forty-seven thousand members, and several groups, from LG to Krafton, are already among OpenAI's clients.
