Runway establishes its European headquarters and a $100 million world model research hub in London to accelerate AI expansion across the continent.
Runway is establishing London as its European headquarters and its new research hub for world models, which are models capable of simulating and predicting environments. The company plans to invest $100 million in the UK AI ecosystem over the next eighteen months, an allocation it expects to more than double by 2028 as it expands its European operations.
This decision is based on an already established business momentum: Europe represents Runway's second-fastest growing market, despite a previously limited commercial presence. The company reports a 50% increase in the volume of subscriptions sold on the continent over the past twelve months, several million users, and over 20% of its enterprise customer base located in Europe. Its clients include the BBC, Fremantle, and WPP.
Beyond content creation, Runway emphasizes the expansion of world models into robotics, scientific research, and industrial simulation. The London headquarters will expand an already partly European research team, with dedicated hires for these models, in coordination with the New York and San Francisco teams. The company is also opening a Head of Europe position, responsible for structuring the research, product, engineering, and commercial divisions.
