Ponder.AI launches its agentic video editor in early access, backed by a $2.5M pre-seed round to automate raw footage analysis and A-roll assembly.

Ponder, founded by director Timothy Wang and engineer Tim Tan, is launching in early access. The startup simultaneously closes a $2.5 million pre-seed round led by Liu Jiang (Sunflower Capital), alongside Josh Browder and Matt Hartman. The round also includes Aaron Levie (Box), Emery Wells (Frame), Jared Leto, Comma Capital, NYU's venture fund, and Daniel Shiffman.

The tool is presented as an editing agent capable of analyzing a folder of raw footage and producing a usable first cut in minutes. The engine reads camera movements, composition, subject focus, scene type, pacing, audio clarity, and continuity, then converts everything into structured, queryable metadata. Based on this, it selects the best takes, assembles an A-roll, integrates the B-roll, and maintains consistent pacing.

Editing is then controlled using natural language: tighten the pacing, reorder scenes, cut silences, replace a shot, emphasize an emotion. The timeline updates with each instruction without overwriting existing work. Export is to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut, allowing users to finish the project in their usual environment.

In terms of use cases, Ponder AI targets talking heads, vlogs, event coverage, and documentaries, as well as real estate, corporate, and marketing content. Several editors cited by the brand report a gain of 30 to 40 hours per project on the pre-editing phase.
