Perplexity Spaces are becoming persistent workspaces

Perplexity Computer equips itself with Projects, persistent workspaces featuring shared files and evolving memory for team tasks.

The former Spaces are evolving into Projects, environments designed to organize long-term missions assigned to Perplexity Computer. Each project gathers the necessary conversations, instructions, tasks, automations, and documents, allowing the agent to resume work without having to reconstruct its context at every session.

A shared file system enables humans and Computer to work on the same items. The agent can open the latest version of a document, modify it, and then save the changes to the original file. Scheduled tasks can also automatically update a report, a tracker, or a status document used by the entire team.

Each Project can be linked to Brain, Computer's evolving memory. The system analyzes the project's sessions and files to retain decisions made, methods used, and progress status. This memory can be updated on demand or at a set frequency, ensuring that new tasks benefit from the work already completed. Perplexity presents Computer as an agent capable of conducting research, producing documents, using external tools, and executing background missions.

Teams can share files, history, and project-specific skills without granting access to connected accounts or the personal memory of other members. Permissions for Google Drive, GitHub, Notion, Linear, Snowflake, Slack, or Microsoft Teams remain tied to each user. A Slack or Teams channel can also be linked to a Project to add a conversation to the context or trigger a task directly from the messaging app.

Existing Spaces are automatically converted. Projects is available to Perplexity Computer users on the web, mobile apps, and desktop versions.
