OpenAI creates OpenAI Deployment Company

OpenAI launches OpenAI Deployment Company with $4B to embed AI in enterprises, acquiring Tomoro and partnering with TPG, Bain Capital, and Capgemini.

OpenAI is structuring its enterprise integration business into a distinct entity, named OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo), designed to assist organizations in embedding AI at the core of their operational workflows. The subsidiary is majority-owned and controlled by OpenAI, and is launching with over $4 billion in initial financial commitments.

DeployCo's business model relies on Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), embedded with clients to map high-value workflows, redesign organizational infrastructure around AI, and deliver systems into production. A team of approximately 150 FDEs and deployment specialists will join the staff upon closing, through the acquisition of Tomoro, an AI consulting and engineering firm whose references include Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, and Supercell. The operation remains subject to usual regulatory approvals and is expected to finalize in the coming months.

The partnership funding round brings together 19 investment funds, consulting firms, and system integrators. The partnership is led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as co-leads, and welcomes B Capital, BBVA, Emergence Capital, Goanna, Goldman Sachs, SoftBank Corp., Warburg Pincus, and WCAS as founding partners. On the consulting and integration side, Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey & Company are also among the investors. According to OpenAI, the partner investors sponsor over 2,000 companies worldwide, in addition to the integrators' portfolio.

The typical engagement model begins with a targeted diagnostic of areas where AI can create the most value, followed by the selection with client management of a few priority workflows, then the build and deployment into production of systems connected to internal data, tools, and processes. DeployCo complements the Frontier Alliance, OpenAI's network of industrial partners.
