OpenAI and Codex models arrive on AWS via Amazon Bedrock
OpenAI models and its Codex programming agent are now available on AWS via Amazon Bedrock, bringing secure AI and code development tools to cloud customers.
OpenAI's models and its programming agent Codex are now generally available on AWS, through Amazon Bedrock. Specifically, AWS customers can integrate these capabilities into their existing environments, with the security, compliance, and governance tools they already use.
The offering comes in two ways: OpenAI's models on Amazon Bedrock, for developing applications leveraging AWS native controls, and Codex on Amazon Bedrock, which brings the development agent, claimed to have over five million weekly users, within the platform to write, review, debug, and modernize code. The system covers both commercial regions and GovCloud regions reserved for the public sector.
OpenAI also mentions a next step with Daybreak, a cybersecurity-oriented suite bringing together dedicated models and Codex Security. It aims to integrate secure code review, threat modeling, patch validation, or dependency risk analysis directly into the development workflow, for defense teams. Its availability on AWS is planned for later.
