Magnific builds its own creative experience on top of GPT Image 2 with Magnific One

Magnific One uses GPT Image 2 to generate visuals under creative control. How the integration of brand guidelines and layers changes the game for agencies.

Magnific is launching Magnific One, an image generator designed to insert an art-direction layer before the image itself is produced. But despite being presented as an image “model,” Magnific One is not a new foundation model trained from scratch by the company. It currently runs on OpenAI's GPT Image 2, with Magnific adding its own creative-direction system, visual references and brand rules around it.

That is the most important technical detail behind the launch.

Rather than competing with OpenAI, Google or Black Forest Labs by training another foundation model, Magnific is building a specialized orchestration layer on top of existing image-generation technology.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Magnific head of product marketing Sofía López Martín explicitly confirmed that Magnific One is powered by GPT Image 2. GPT Image 2 underneath, Magnific around it

There is one unresolved detail in Magnific's technical messaging.

During VentureBeat's briefing, López Martín initially referred to some “post training” around GPT Image 2. She later described Magnific One's differentiation as primarily prompt-based, using structured textual instructions developed by Magnific's creative specialists.

The written FAQ supplied afterward is much clearer. Asked whether Magnific trained its own model, it states that nothing was trained.

Based on the information currently available, Magnific One is therefore better understood as a creative orchestration system built around GPT Image 2 than as a proprietary foundation model whose weights were independently trained or modified.

That distinction matters because the product's differentiation sits primarily before and after the foundation model call: interpretation, creative direction, references, brand rules, verification and editing.

Magnific has also said it is exploring ways to extend the same layer to additional image generators in the future. Art direction before generation

The workflow begins with the user's brief.

That brief can be extremely short. Magnific's own launch material uses the single word “gossip” to demonstrate that users do not necessarily need to describe composition, lighting, framing and visual treatment themselves.

An intermediate creative layer interprets the request before sending it to GPT Image 2.

Magnific says this layer incorporates direction created by its internal photographers, illustrators and compositing specialists, helping determine composition, lighting, photographic treatment, medium and texture.

The Magnific One prompting guide demonstrates how a minimal request can be expanded into a much more deliberate visual concept.

In other words, Magnific is moving part of prompt construction into the product itself. Draft for exploration, Final for production

Magnific One has two main generation modes.

Draft is designed for exploration. A single request can return 4, 8 or 16 directions for the credit cost of one image, allowing creators to compare concepts before committing to a final execution.

Final produces the production-oriented output in 2K or 4K, with High and Max quality levels. Brand Kit is available only in Final.

Moving from Draft to Final does not simply upscale the selected preview. Magnific warns that some details and composition may change during the new generation. Brand Kit is arguably the real product

For agencies and marketing teams, Brand Kit may be the more important part of the release.

A company can provide its website, a brand-guidelines PDF, reference images or a written description. An AI agent extracts an initial representation of the brand, including logo, palette, typography, imagery and tone. Teams can then review and correct it before saving the kit.

When the kit is selected in Final, those instructions influence the initial generation.

Magnific then checks the resulting image against the stored guidance, looking for issues involving visual style, color, typography or logo usage, alongside broader quality problems such as artifacts, framing and unreadable text.

Users can explain why a result is off-brand, and those corrections can become persistent rules for future generations.

A kit can be shared across a team, while agencies can maintain separate kits for different clients. Brand compliance is not guaranteed

Magnific does not claim that Brand Kit guarantees perfect compliance.

Exact typography, logo reproduction and object placement can still fail. The company's own documentation recommends generating without logos or copy when those elements need to be exact, then adding them in the editing stage.

The VentureBeat demonstration illustrated this directly. Magnific's first generation using a VentureBeat Brand Kit failed some of the system's own checks, including color and visual-treatment rules.

Brand Kit should therefore be viewed as a guidance and verification system rather than an absolute brand lock. Editing without regenerating everything

Magnific One also connects to Auto Layers and Designer.

Auto Layers can break the generated image into editable components, allowing users to adjust copy, colors, logos or visual elements without recreating the whole result.

Designer provides more direct layout and vector-oriented control, while supported Figma and Photoshop workflows remain available.

This matters for professional production because the problem is often no longer generating an attractive image. It is changing one sentence or one brand element without losing everything else that already works. Credits and launch pricing

Magnific One uses the platform's existing credit system.

At launch, 2K High costs 180 credits, 4K High 250 credits, 2K Max 600 credits and 4K Max 1,000 credits.

VentureBeat estimates that this can translate to roughly $0.12 to $0.73 per image on annual plans when the full annual credit allocation is used. Actual workflow costs can be substantially different depending on how many Drafts, Finals and corrections are required.

Magnific is also running a launch promotion through October 15, with unlimited Draft and
