Lovable replaces its Visual edits with a Preview Toolbar, letting users edit apps in real time using four modes like inline text editing and annotations.

At Lovable, an AI-powered application creation platform, the Preview Toolbar replaces the old Visual edits system and its separate panel. The principle is to stay within the app's preview, choose a mode, point to an element, and describe the modification in natural language, without opening a dedicated editor.

Four modes, switchable at any time, structure the tool. Select elements targets one or more elements, attached to the chat as context, to apply an instruction to them; multiple selection is done using Cmd or Ctrl. Edit text inline corrects text directly on the page. Draw annotation lets you draw lines, arrows, or shapes, automatically recognized and cleaned up, to indicate a spatial change that is difficult to articulate. Add a comment finally pins comments to an element, to which teammates can reply.

The credit model varies depending on the mode. Select elements and Draw annotation count as standard chat usage; edits via Edit text inline remain free up to one hundred per day before switching to credits; posting comments is free, sending them to Lovable is not. The toolbar can be moved, minimized, or hidden, adapts to light, dark, or automatic themes, and accepts queuing requests while the tool works.
