Japanese game becomes a testing ground for World Models

Runway partners with Japanese gaming giant MIXI to deploy its AI video tools and explore World Models for Monster Strike, cutting production times by up to 85%.

Runway signs a strategic partnership with MIXI, a Japanese group active in gaming, sports, and entertainment, particularly known for Monster Strike and FamilyAlbum.

The platform is already being used across several creative units at MIXI, including sports, lifestyle, and entertainment content, with production gains highlighted by both companies: a video for the traditional Chinese version of Monster Strike reduced from 21 days to three days of in-house production, a brand film reduced from 20 to seven days, and visual proposals for character animations, in-app effects, or transitions generated in minutes. Beyond the workflow, Runway and MIXI aim to explore new uses for World Models in video games, animation, and interactive experiences.

The partnership also aligns with Runway's push into Japan, with an office in Tokyo, an announced $40 million investment, and a claimed 300% growth in its enterprise clients in the country over twelve months.
