[I/O 2026] Google Workspace invests in voice and enhances AI Inbox.

Google Workspace adds voice features to Gmail, Docs, and Keep, and expands its AI Inbox to AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the US.

Google is enhancing Workspace, used by over four billion people, with voice-driven conversational features in Gmail, Docs, and Keep. Gmail Live verbally queries the inbox and provides a synthesized response, whether it's a boarding gate number or the week's school schedule. Docs Live acts as a brainstorming partner and co-writer: you dictate, and the tool structures the content, adjusts the tone, and, with permission, draws from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the Web to accelerate a first draft. Keep, for its part, transforms a vocal "brain dump" into organized notes and lists in the background. These features are coming this summer for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and in preview for business customers.

AI Inbox, introduced earlier this year to prioritize important messages and urgent tasks, gains new capabilities, for its part: personalized and contextual reply drafts, direct access to the document, spreadsheet, or presentation attached to a task, and simplified management allowing you to mark an action as done, dismiss a suggestion, or bulk-mark a topic as read. Previously reserved for AI Ultra subscribers and an Enterprise Plus preview, the tool is now available to AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the United States.
