[I/O 2026] Google is preparing Pics, an AI image generation and editing tool for Workspace

Google is developing Pics, a Workspace AI image tool powered by Nano Banana for precision editing and generation in Google Slides via Workspace Experiments.

Google is developing Pics, a new tool dedicated to image generation and editing within Google Workspace. It relies on Nano Banana to produce visuals tailored to the user's expressed style and needs.

The tool prioritizes precision editing rather than generation from a single prompt. Users can: move, resize, or transform objects in isolation modify or translate text within the image rework a specific area of the image.

Pics integrates directly into everyday Workspace applications. It allows users to add and retouch images within Google Slides, with creations automatically saved to Google Drive.

Availability Pics does not yet have an announced general launch date. Early access will be offered via the Workspace Experiments program, which allows for early testing of new suite features.
