Google gives its home agent an address and a memory

Google Labs is expanding CC to US households: up to six people can share information with a common agent in charge of calendars, tasks, forms, and the daily family briefing.

School schedules sit in one inbox, evening practice details are buried in a conversation, and the grocery list lives in one person’s head. Google wants to bring this scattered household logistics together around CC, an agent now designed to be used by multiple members of the same household.

Introduced on September 17, 2026, this new version has its own verified Google account. It can receive messages, join a shared calendar, access selected files, and appear in Google Chat under an identity separate from the people using it.

A group can include up to six members: the original account holder and five additional people. Each person independently decides what information they want to share with CC. The agent then brings those shared elements together to provide a common view of appointments, travel, and household tasks.

Every morning, members receive an email titled “Your Day Ahead.” It summarizes key times, indicates who needs to be where, highlights actions that still need to be taken, and lists tasks completed by CC the previous day.

The goal is to prevent one person from becoming, by default, the administrative memory of the entire family. Information received by one parent can be added to the shared context, then turned into an event, task, or reminder visible to other authorized members.

CC existed before this update. Launched in December 2025, it initially operated as an individual productivity assistant connected to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and the web. It prepared a morning summary, suggested email drafts, and could remember certain requests.

In May 2026, part of that approach was integrated into the Gemini app under the name Daily Brief. The feature reviews Gmail, Calendar, and Gemini conversations to identify the day’s priorities. The new version of CC follows the same principle, but shifts the organizational unit from the individual to the household.

That change requires managing multiple accounts and different levels of privacy. CC does not automatically gain access to participants’ full inboxes. Each member chooses what they want to share and can change those permissions later.

An option called “Auto ‘cc’ CC” allows users to select senders whose future messages will automatically be forwarded to the agent. A family could, for example, authorize emails from a school, sports club, veterinarian, or booking service.

Google also plans to provide a private weekly summary of newly detected senders. Each person can decide which ones should be added to the automatic list. Other messages remain outside the shared context unless they are deliberately forwarded.

For one-off information, users can forward an email to CC or send content to it through Google Chat. A photo of an invitation, a schedule received in a message, or a document related to an activity can then be used to create an event in the family calendar.

Members can also share a Drive folder, a file, or an entire calendar. This range of input sources reflects how households actually operate, with information arriving through different apps and rarely in a format that is immediately usable.

CC is not limited to producing summaries. It can add and update events in Google Calendar, create shared tasks, prepare a school supplies list, or suggest meals for the week.

The agent can also prefill permission slips and registration forms in PDF format. If information is missing, it asks group members before proceeding. Google states that any action or sharing outside the group requires permission.

That promise should be distinguished from fully autonomous form completion. CC can prepare fields and organize information, but the user remains responsible for checking accuracy, adding any required signature, and sending the document to the correct recipient.

On days involving several appointments, the agent can query the Google Maps API to check updated travel times. It can then flag a trip that leaves little margin for delay or incorporate the required travel time into the day’s schedule.

CC can also create shared documents and spreadsheets. A shopping list, activity schedule, or household responsibilities table can therefore be produced directly within Google’s ecosystem rather than remaining trapped inside a conversational response.

Behind the interface, each instance operates on an isolated cloud computer. Google says execution relies on Antigravity, its environment for agents, together with its latest Gemini models.

The company does not specify, however, which version of Gemini handles each operation. It also provides no figures on error rates when extracting dates, reading forms, or distinguishing between two household members with different constraints.

The new CC includes shared memory. It attempts to separate information that applies to the entire household, such as a recurring grocery list or favorite restaurants, from information that only concerns one person, such as a dietary restriction or time zone.

That distinction matters when the same agent processes data from several individuals. An allergy should not be attributed to the whole family, while a home address or shared calendar should be reusable across multiple tasks.

Google does not explain in detail how this memory is structured, how long each piece of information is retained, or what tools are available to review the origin of a remembered detail. The announcement says sharing settings can be changed, but does not describe how individual remembered items can be deleted.

CC’s dedicated account gives it a visible identity and a clearer permission model than access performed on behalf of a single household member. In a calendar or conversation, its actions can be identified and distinguished from those of human users.

That identity alone, however, does not prevent mistakes. A misinterpreted event can still be added at the wrong time, a task can be assigned to the wrong person, and a form can reuse outdated information.

The consequences are generally administrative, but they can involve
