Flick raises $6 million from True Ventures and GV to expand its AI filmmaking canvas and unveils the first cohort of its Filmmaker Residency program.

Flick has closed a $6 million seed round from a syndicate including True Ventures, GV (Google Ventures), Y Combinator, Lightspeed, Pioneer Fund, Formosa Capital, Olive Tree Capital, and N1, supplemented by business angels including Garry Tan and Golda (Y Combinator). Co-founded by filmmaker Zoey Zhang and engineer Ray Wang, the company offers an AI editor designed for filmmakers: a non-linear infinite canvas in a storyboard style, integrated chat, character consistency, and targeted shot editing, under the promise We handle AI. You direct stories. Subscriptions range from $5 to $600 monthly depending on the volume of credits consumed.

In parallel, Flick showcases the first cohort of its Filmmaker Residency, a program led by Zoey Zhang: fourteen emerging filmmakers produced thirteen short films made entirely on the platform, following an approximately two-month residency combining extended access, individual mentorship, and editorial support. Several films have already been featured at Cinequest, the MIT AI Film Hack, and the Omni AI Film Festival.
