ElevenLabs makes Einstein speak with a conversational voice agent

ElevenLabs launches an Einstein voice agent using its Eleven v3 Conversational model to discuss physics, alongside a free Pro program for educators.

ElevenLabs offers a conversational agent featuring Albert Einstein's voice, capable of conversing by drawing on the physicist's written archives. The voice was recreated by cloning from historical recordings, as part of a partnership with CMG Worldwide and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, custodian of the Einstein archives.

The agent operates in both text and voice: users speak to it, and it responds in real time with the intonation ascribed to the scientist, able to address relativity, quantum physics, or the philosophy of science. The system relies on the Eleven v3 Conversational model, highlighted for its low latency, emotion detection, and natural-sounding speech. It supports over 70 languages, including French, with automatic detection and the ability to switch languages during an exchange.

The agent is available for free on the ElevenLabs website and in the ElevenReader app. The company is simultaneously launching a program for educators, the Impact Program × Professors, which provides free Pro access for one academic year, with the option to temporarily extend benefits to students. According to ElevenLabs, over a hundred professors, notably at Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Cornell, and UCL, are already using it.
