ElevenLabs: Agreement with the British Government and Expansion in London

ElevenLabs signs a UK government MOU to deploy voice AI in public services while expanding its London headquarters and doubling its local workforce to 200.

ElevenLabs and the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the use of voice AI in public services. Still a general framework, the agreement is structured around three areas. The first focuses on accessibility: making administrative information easier to access for blind or visually impaired individuals, those with reading difficulties or the elderly, and for the country's diverse linguistic communities, including Welsh language services. The second area addresses AI security, with the continuation of existing research with the UK AI Security Institute on the perception of synthetic voices and conversational agents, particularly users' ability to detect that they are interacting with an AI and the effect of this realization on their behavior. The third focuses on the training and development of local voice and audio skills.

In parallel, the company is expanding its UK presence: a London headquarters three times larger, a workforce doubled to 200 people this year, and the appointment of Alex Holt as Field CTO. In terms of references, it cites Revolut, Deliveroo, and Trainline, while its ElevenLabs for Government program is already operating in Ukraine, Czechia, and Greece, the latter case also serving to preserve endangered dialects.
