Cursor enriches its automations: /automate, triggers, computer use

Cursor 3.8 upgrades Cursor Automations with the /automate command, computer use for cloud agents, and new triggers for GitHub and Slack integrations.

Cursor enhances Cursor Automations, its module that delegates repetitive tasks to continuous agents, in version 3.8. Three main additions: the /automate command, new triggers for GitHub and Slack, and computer use.

From the local agent session, /automate allows describing the task to automate in natural language, with Cursor handling the configuration of its triggers, instructions, and tools. Regarding triggers, reacting to a Slack message with a designated emoji triggers an automation, while GitHub gains five additional entry points, around issue comments, pull request reviews, and the completion of a GitHub Actions workflow run. Ready-to-use templates, such as sorting Action failures or correcting review comments, join the Marketplace.

The other new feature concerns computer use: Cloud agents triggered by an automation can now use their own machine to produce a demo or artifacts of their work, with the option active by default. A few settings complete the offering, including saving an incomplete automation while configuring MCP authentication, and the deletion of obsolete memory files.
