[Config 2026] Motion joins the Figma canvas
Figma integrates Motion natively into its canvas, allowing designers to animate components, export to MP4 or SVG, and generate keyframes via AI prompts.
Motion becomes a native layer in Figma Design, with a timeline accessible in the same file as components, variables, and mockups. Designers can keyframe position, scale, rotation, or opacity, use presets, comment on a specific moment in the animation, and export directly to MP4, GIF, SVG, or WEBM. Figma also adds system logic: components can embed motion, variables allow managing animation curves and modes, and Dev Mode provides access to values, timings, and exports in CSS, JSON, React, or motion.dev. The Figma agent can also generate keyframes from a prompt, then let the designer take over the rhythm and details. 3D transformations are announced next, with a waitlist already open.
