ComfyOrg reorganizes its ComfyStudio residency program

ComfyOrg restructures its ComfyStudio residency program, parting ways with its founders to redefine the scope of the ComfyUI-focused initiative.

ComfyOrg, the organization behind ComfyUI, posted an update on 𝕏 regarding ComfyStudio, its artist residency program launched in recent weeks. The team announced it has decided to part ways with the program's founding leaders and to take a step back to redefine its scope. ComfyStudio remains a priority for the organization.

The program in its initial form brings together VFX artists, animators, and pipeline developers with the ComfyUI team for short sprints of two to four weeks, in a hybrid model from the Los Angeles studio. The workflows produced during these collaborations are published open-source. When a resident's expertise aligns with ComfyOrg's quarterly hero project, an extended contract of six to eight weeks may be offered.

ComfyOrg is opening the search for a program manager responsible for overseeing ComfyStudio day-to-day, targeting profiles with experience leading a residency, a studio R&D group, or an artistic program. Applications for the residency itself remain open via an online form, which specifically asks applicants to indicate a point in their current pipeline they would like to solve with AI. LA-based applicants are prioritized, without excluding applications from outside the area. Further details on the program's timeline and new modalities will be announced in the coming weeks.
