Cofounder wants to run an entire company by agents

The General Intelligence Company is building Cofounder, an agent platform backed by $8.7 million from Union Square Ventures to run an entire business.

The General Intelligence Company, a young New York-based company, is developing Cofounder, an agent orchestration platform designed to run an entire company. The tool is structured like a real company, with departments (engineering, sales, marketing, design, finance, ops, support, legal), agents who distribute tasks among themselves, and a shared context. Humans remain in the loop, with certain sensitive actions requiring their approval, and the platform connects to third-party tools via MCP, proprietary APIs, skills, or an entire codebase.

The lab has just switched to weekly release notes, the latest of which mainly brings practical adjustments: live artifact previews while agents work, Reddit publishing and multi-social account management, integration with the meeting notes tool Granola, image editing in the library, and fixes for database data changes. More everyday improvements than spectacular ones.

Its stated ambition, however, is grander: the company positions itself as infrastructure for "the one-person billion-dollar company", and boasts an $8.7 million seed round led by Union Square Ventures, enough to push a more complete version that's already been outlined.
