CapCut releases Director Mode, an agentic workflow integrated into Video Studio, its web version, designed to produce series, short films, and long-form videos rather than isolated clips. The environment relies on two models, Seedance 2.0 for video and GPT-Image-2 for images.

The process follows five steps. The user submits an idea, from which the agent co-writes a complete script integrating a synopsis, character sheets, and visual universe. The AI then generates the associated visuals (character variants, sets, props) consistent with the script. Next comes the storyboard phase, where shots are produced in connected sequences rather than separate clips. The final edit is automatically assembled with transitions and rhythm. At any time, the user can revisit a specific shot, request a different angle, a different face, or a more dramatic intention, and re-render only the affected sequence without recalculating everything.

The official demonstration features a post-apocalyptic short film titled Dune of the Damned, showing the script, asset library, storyboard, and then the subtitled render. A "Director Mode" toggle distinguishes this workflow from the Standard mode, which is reserved for short videos.

The tool is globally accessible via CapCut Web, with deployment in the United States to follow. New Video Studio accounts receive 300 free AI credits to test it. Login is available via a CapCut, TikTok, Google, or email account.
