CapCut and Google Gemini partner to integrate video editing into the assistant

Google Gemini integrates ByteDance's CapCut video editor to let users generate and refine content with effects and subtitles directly within the assistant.

CapCut and Google are bringing their tools closer together through an integration of the editor into the Gemini app. The principle is to make CapCut's features accessible from Google's conversational assistant, such as effects, transitions, automatic subtitles, or music addition, without having to switch from one application to another.

The idea is to combine the generation and editing steps within a single workflow. The user prompts Gemini to produce ideas, scripts, or visual material, then refines the result with the editor's tools immediately afterwards. CapCut envisions creation becoming more conversational and better connected between different tools, and presents this integration as a first step.

The collaboration brings together two major players: CapCut, owned by ByteDance and one of the most widely used video editors on mobile and desktop, and Gemini, central to Google's recent releases. No date has been announced, the feature simply being presented as coming soon.
