Automated voice casting for audiobooks
ElevenLabs Character Casting analyzes a manuscript to assign a voice to each character. Centralized management that accelerates audio production.
Character Casting transforms a manuscript into a multi-voice audio production. ElevenCreative Audiobooks analyzes the text, identifies the characters, and assigns each passage to the correct speaker, offering a voice recommendation based notably on their age, gender, tone, and role in the story.
The suggested voices can be tested directly on the book's dialogue, rather than on a generic demo. When a voice is replaced, all lines associated with that character are updated across the entire project, without having to manually adjust each paragraph.
The platform also prepares a pronunciation dictionary from the names, places, and unusual terms detected in the manuscript. Pacing and pause settings are applied to all chapters to maintain a consistent performance. A section can then be regenerated separately when a passage requires a correction.
The final audiobook can be exported for external distribution or published on ElevenReader. The feature is included in the various ElevenCreative plans, but ElevenLabs indicates that an average-length book typically exceeds 100,000 credits and recommends its Creator subscription at 22 dollars per month as a starting point for self-publishing.
