Anthropic structures teamwork with agents

Anthropic outlines how Claude Tag and AI agents transition from individual use to collective teamwork in Slack by requiring persistent memory and shared context.

With Claude Tag, Anthropic describes the shift from individual AI use to a more collective mode, where humans and agents work in the same spaces, particularly Slack. For these agents to be useful to a team, the company highlights four conditions: persistent memory, unique identifiers, structured access to tools, and broadly accessible context. In other words, an agent can only help if it sees decisions, documents, tickets, exchanges, and shared objectives.

The post also emphasizes very human work rules: defining roles, clearly documenting who does what, setting a common direction, verifying outcomes, and gradually increasing autonomy. Agents can handle data analysis, synthesis, QA, codebase maintenance, or metric tracking, but sensitive decisions remain on the human side. Behind the "multiplayer" terminology, Anthropic primarily reminds us of one thing: agents do not fix a vague organization, they make it more visible.
