Anthropic launches Claude Tag, a Slack tool for Enterprise and Team clients using Opus 4.8 to delegate tasks and code reviews directly in channels.

Anthropic is launching Claude Tag, a way for teams to work with Claude, starting with Slack, where the model can join a workspace as a member. Once Claude is added to selected channels and connected to designated tools, data, and codebases, anyone in the channel can tag it (@Claude) to delegate a task to it. Anthropic describes it as an evolution of Claude Code, more proactive and designed for an entire team, and states that internally, 65 percent of its product team's code now goes through its own version of the tool.

Its operation is reminiscent of Claude Code or Cowork: a request is formulated in plain language, the model breaks it down into steps, processes them with its tools, then responds in a Slack thread. Anthropic highlights some specific features: only one Claude per channel, visible to everyone, and anyone can pick up the thread; a context that accumulates over the course of the channel, and from other authorized sources, without reporting anything from private channels; an 'ambient' mode where the model takes the initiative to flag or follow up; and asynchronous work, with tasks it schedules for itself over several hours or days.

Regarding governance, administrators set the accessible tools and data per channel, with distinct identities and siloed memories, spending caps, and a log of everything the model has done and who requested it. Available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team clients, Claude Tag replaces the Claude in Slack application and works with Opus 4.8.
