Anthropic launches Claude Science, a beta research app using NVIDIA BioNeMo to connect Claude models with tools like Evo 2 for life sciences workflows.
Anthropic is expanding its work in life sciences with Claude Science, an application for researchers, offered in beta. The tool brings together in a single environment resources that scientists typically use in a fragmented way, from databases to notebooks and computational terminals. Users interact with a coordinating agent that has over 60 pre-configured skills and connectors for genomics, proteomics, structural biology, or chemoinformatics. This agent can call upon others, including specialized agents created by users, while a reviewing agent checks citations and calculations and corrects detected errors.
The application emphasizes traceability: each generated figure embeds the code and environment that produced it, a clear language description, and the complete exchange history, making it possible to reproduce results months later. It natively displays 3D protein structures, genome tracks, or chemical structures, modifiable by simple written instruction. For computation, it drafts a plan, requests authorization before accessing new resources, then submits tasks to the lab's infrastructure, from an HPC cluster via SSH to a Modal account. Processing remains on the lab's systems, with only the context relevant to each step being transmitted to Claude.
The entire system relies on NVIDIA's BioNeMo Agent Toolkit to connect to models like Evo 2, Boltz-2, and OpenFold3, and can integrate each team's own pipelines and datasets. The beta is open on macOS and Linux to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.
