Anthropic is establishing Claude Corps, a national fellowship for early-career professionals tasked with promoting AI use within nonprofit organizations across the United States. The program aims to train 1,000 fellows in the use of Claude, then place them for one year, full-time and in-person, within nonprofit organizations to advance their missions. The initial funding amounts to $150 million.

Each mission lasts twelve months and comes with a salary of $85,000, benefits, initial and ongoing training, and a budget for Claude tokens. The initiative brings together three key players: Anthropic finances and pilots, CodePath is the official employer and runs the program, and Social Finance is responsible for impact measurement and the financial engineering for scaling.

At least 400 organizations will host fellows over the coming year. Applications are open for a first cohort of 100 people in October 2026, followed by two more in January and August 2027. The program is open to any adult with less than two years of experience, with no degree requirement, authorized to work in the United States, and willing to relocate. The company presents the initiative in light of the employment disruptions brought about by AI, and plans to subsequently expand the format, open up parts of it, and export it outside the United States.
