Anthropic acquires Stainless, an SDK and MCP server infrastructure
Anthropic acquires Stainless to boost Claude Platform's developer tooling with automated SDK and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server generation.
Anthropic acquires Stainless, a company founded in 2022 specializing in SDK and MCP server generation. The platform has powered every official Anthropic API SDK since its inception and is used by hundreds of companies to automatically produce SDKs, command-line interfaces, and MCP connectors from a simple API specification, available in TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, and other languages.
On Anthropic's side, Katelyn Lesse, Head of Platform Engineering, justifies the acquisition by the need to expand the surfaces Claude can connect to, stating that an agent is only as good as what it can connect to. Alex Rattray, founder of Stainless, highlights the continuity of a collaboration that began in the early days of the Anthropic API.
The deal extends the commitment made by the publisher with the Model Context Protocol, the open standard it published to facilitate connecting models to data sources and external tools. The arrival of the Stainless teams enhances the Claude Platform's tooling around automated SDK and MCP server generation.
