An enhanced agreement between Microsoft and Mistral, from the cloud to isolated environments

The partnership between Microsoft and Mistral allows models like Medium 3.5 to be run in environments completely disconnected from the cloud.

The partnership between Microsoft and Mistral is scaling up with a multi-billion-dollar commitment dedicated to AI infrastructure in Europe. Mistral plans to increase its computing capacities with several thousand NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, a portion of which will be used by Microsoft to meet the growing demand for its cloud and AI services.

The agreement also extends to products. Mistral Medium 3.5, an open-weights model, and OCR 4 are joining Microsoft Foundry, while Medium 3.5 becomes accessible in Copilot Studio. Companies will be able to develop their applications using the same models and tools, and then run them in Azure, on their own connected infrastructures, or in environments completely disconnected from the Internet.

This architecture specifically targets regulated sectors and sensitive activities, which must maintain control over their data, operations, and service continuity. The two groups also plan to fund proofs of concept, grant Azure credits, and conduct joint workshops for their customers.
