Alpamayo 2 Super is now available for commercial use

Alpamayo 2 Super is now available for commercial use under OpenMDW-1.1, with inspectable decisions for autonomous driving.

Alpamayo 2 Super is an open-weights model for autonomous driving, now available under the OpenMDW-1.1 license. The license allows fine-tuning, the creation of derivative models, and commercial redistribution without requiring additional permission from NVIDIA.

Built on Cosmos 3 Super Reasoner and post-trained through reinforcement learning, the model analyzes images captured by cameras positioned around the vehicle. It can simultaneously generate a planned trajectory, a high-level action such as yielding or changing lanes, and a chain-of-causation trace explaining the decision.

The system can also generate reasoning annotations for training data and answer visual questions by linking its responses to specific regions within camera images. NVIDIA positions it as a foundation model for data preparation, evaluation, distillation, and the development of robotaxis, autonomous trucks, and shuttles.

In tests reported by NVIDIA, Alpamayo 2 Super ranked first on the LingoQA benchmark among nearly 40 models. Using the Lingo-Judge metric, the company reports a 17-point lead over Qwen2.5-VL 72B, 15.1 points over Gemini 2.5 Pro, and 23.2 points over GPT-4o.

The model is primarily intended for cloud-based development workflows. Its outputs can be used to train smaller, specialized models that are then optimized for real-time inference inside vehicles. NVIDIA is also extending the commercial license across the entire Alpamayo model family.
