A workspace where AI agents are members, not bots

Buzz, an open-source workspace backed by Jack Dorsey's Block, integrates AI agents as full team members alongside humans using the decentralized Nostr protocol.

Backed by Block, the company of Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former boss of Twitter, Buzz is an open-source online workspace where humans and AI agents work in the same chat rooms. The idea is to bring together in one place what is usually split between a team messaging app and a code management tool, plus the surrounding applications.

What sets Buzz apart is the role given to AI agents. Rather than simple bots that you call upon, they are treated as team members: each has its own identity and is granted access just like a colleague. Once in a room, an agent can review a project's code, propose changes, review them, or run tasks, just like a person.

Everything that happens there—messages, decisions, code changes, and approvals—is recorded and authenticated in a single, verifiable history. The entire system is built on an open and decentralized protocol (Nostr) and can be hosted on one's own server, allowing users to retain control of their data: if the service were to disappear, the history would remain accessible. The project also takes care to specify that it is not a blockchain.

Distributed for free under an open-source license, Buzz connects to various AI models and assistants. It is in its early stages and is presented as an ongoing project open to testing and contributions.
