A BMG partnership ahead of Suno’s next music model

Suno is partnering with BMG around its next music model, with a framework based on opt-in participation from artists and songwriters.

Suno is partnering with BMG as part of the development of its next music model, which the company describes as its first built with direct participation from the music industry. The agreement is also intended to support new experiences connecting artists, songwriters, and users of the platform.

The partnership will notably include opt-in mechanisms. Suno points to new economic opportunities for artists and songwriters who choose to participate in these uses, without yet detailing how they will work, how compensation will be structured, or which specific rights will be involved.

BMG will also work with Suno on programs aimed at independent artists. The platform specifically cites Suno: In Session and Spark, which combine support, resources, mentorship, and marketing assistance. In parallel, Suno runs regular sessions with artists, producers, and musicians to incorporate their feedback into the development of its tools.

The partnership comes as Suno seeks to formalize its relationships with the music industry more broadly. The company recently published a set of principles governing the development of its technologies and says it intends to strengthen the protections already built into its platform.

No technical details have yet been disclosed about the music model associated with the agreement, nor about the data that will be used specifically for its training. Suno also does not state whether BMG’s catalog will be used directly for that purpose. For now, the partnership primarily establishes a framework for collaboration with one of the music industry’s major independent companies.
